About Le Tout Va Bien - French Restaurant

Let me introduce you to Le Tout Va Bien - French Restaurant, a cozy slice of France tucked into the heart of Midtown Manhattan at 311 W 51st St, New York, NY 10019. From the moment you step in, the place feels effortlessly Parisian, with a warm, lived-in charm that makes you want to settle in and stay awhile. This is the kind of French restaurant where conversation flows easily, plates are meant to be shared, and the atmosphere feels welcoming rather than formal. Whether you’re dropping by after work or planning a relaxed evening with friends, the vibe strikes a nice balance between casual and classic. One thing I always point out is how flexible the experience can be. You can grab a table indoors and enjoy a proper dine-in meal, or take advantage of outdoor seating when the weather’s nice. If you’re short on time, takeaway, kerbside pickup, and delivery options make it easy to enjoy their food wherever you are. The menu leans into comforting French favorites, served as generous plates or small plates that encourage tasting a bit of everything. There’s also a thoughtful selection of organic dishes and halal food, which makes the menu feel inclusive without trying too hard. Drinks are a big part of the experience here, and it shows. The bar offers a solid lineup of wine, spirits, beer, and well-crafted cocktails, along with happy-hour drinks that draw in a lively crowd. If you’re in the mood for something lighter, coffee is always an option, especially for late afternoons that quietly turn into evening. Late-night food keeps things going after typical dinner hours, and for special occasions, the private dining room adds a more intimate touch while keeping the same relaxed energy that defines the space. Being surrounded by the buzz of the Theater District, the restaurant naturally fits into the neighborhood rhythm, offering comforting food, easygoing service, and a place that feels familiar even on a first visit.

What a wonderful experience! My two best friends and I were in New York last weekend and went on the hunt for a place to grab a bite before our show. We stumbled upon Le Tout Va Bien—and what a gem of a find! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere let you know you were in for something special. We had made a reservation (highly recommend), so we were seated right away. The staff was welcoming and brought such an authentic French touch to the whole experience. I ordered the steak frites with peppercorn sauce, and it was an absolute 10/10. My favorite part, though, was the pace—despite the clear demand for tables, nothing ever felt rushed. In true French fashion, the focus was on enjoying the meal, the company, and the moment. I’ll definitely be back the next time this Boston boy is in New York.

I was looking for a traditional French restaurant, and this place met the expectations. Place is very cozy, and the owners treat you like old time friends. Escargot is great. Not overwhelmed with garlic and salt. Onion soup was great. It is a little bit sweet instead of in the savory side. The chicken in wine sauce, to me, it’s an acquired taste, but my wife loves it. The lamb chop dish was great. Overall, will I return to this place again? Yes.

My boyfriend and I visited Le Tout Va Bien last night, and I cannot recommend it highly enough!! Our food was beyond fantastic, and our waiter was friendly, funny and attentive! This place offers exceptional food and a full bar, while managing to hold onto to the wonderful ambiance of a well situated neighborhood restaurant. We will definitely be visiting again!

Atmosphere & History Le Tout Va Bien retains its vintage charm: checkered tablecloths, French nostalgia crooning on the speakers, and walls adorned with Parisian memorabilia and celebrity portraits . It’s cozy—some describe it as “cluttered,” but that adds to its retro appeal . A convivial ambiance for pre-theater dining. ⸻ Menu Highlights Appetizers • Escargots Persillés: Garlic butter-packed and served squealing hot. Served with house-baked baguette—perfect for dipping . • Pâté de campagne: Rich and savory, balanced by crisp mustard and toasted bread . • Additional options include foie gras and lobster Caesar salad with shrimp and half a lobster tail . Mains • Steak Frites: Grass-fed New York strip with crispy fries and a creamy au poivre sauce—an extra charge on the prix fixe but worth it . • Magret de Canard à l’Orange: Tender duck with savory-sweet orange sauce, served with potatoes and green beans . • Coq au Vin: Tender and flavorful, though some found it slightly underseasoned compared to standout dishes . • Salmon with Ratatouille: Flaky fish paired with perfectly stewed vegetables—a highlight of digital journal reviews . Desserts • Classics like Crème Brûlée, Profiteroles, Chocolate Mousse, and Apple Tart all earn praise for being elegantly executed and not overly sweet . • Vacherin: Meringue, fresh berries, and ice cream—an indulgent finish . If you’re looking for a genuine French bistro experience near Times Square—complete with comforting classics, vintage ambiance, and good value—Le Tout Va Bien delivers. The pre-theater prix fixe combined with Happy Hour is a menu-lifting deal, and signature dishes like escargots, duck à l’orange, or steak frites stand out. Skip it if you’re after sleek décor or avant-garde cuisine—but if nostalgia meets solid cooking, this bistro hits the right spot.

I seriously consider coming here twice on one trip, even just to pop in for their souffle of the day (!!!). I don't even know where to begin, I had a very lovely time here. It was such a cute unassuming, unpretentiously French restaurant with the nicest waiter that gave it the perfect neighborhood-friend-next-door vibe. David made wonderful recommendations on the wine, the aperitif, and the dessert(s). I should have also asked for recommendations for food but I was very set on getting the pate, escargot, and the duck. I ended up going with his recommendation on the souffle of the day- a blueberry souffle: "the best one" he says. He isn't wrong. I have not stopped gushing about this souffle to any of my friends as one of the highlight of my trip. I eventually caved and ordered a second dessert, the creme brulee, because I am a sucker for creme brulee. It was a lovely creme brulee but it's definitely not the souffle. I had originally put them on my list as a pre-show dinner option (they offer a prefixe for $45!) but I am so incredibly glad to have gone here post-show. I got to enjoy and savor every part of my meal with no rush. Everything was delicious. Pate was house made, perfectly seasoned and textured. Escargot was garlicky and buttery. I even went through a whole basket of bread (and I am not usually a bread person) just eating it with the pate and the escargot. the duck was perfectly cooked with a lovely orange sauce. This will definitely make my list of repeats in NY for the delicious food, the cozy ambience, and the lovely service.

Wonderful dishes - we enjoyed the delicious Moules Provençale and Magret de Canard. However, just a note that the cutlery was dirty and the tables were too close for any comfort. The gentleman getting into his seat at the next table squeezed between the tables and it was impossible for his coat to not violently brush against our main dish, so he got duck sauce on his clothes. Another gentleman two tables over accidentally toppled and smashed a wine bottle as he was leaving. So remember to suck in your stomach as you exit the dining area

It was such a delicious night. We chose the menu offered for “restaurant week 2025” and it was sooo amazing. They were also soo helpful in choosing wine and offering tastes. The escargot was so good.
